Most on-the-job injuries occur within an employee’s first six months of work. One of the reasons for this disturbing statistic may be that new employees are not aware of specific hazards and risks because they lack proper training and experience.This course provides an overview of industrial safety fundamentals and some essential safety programs. Topics covered include the role of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), basic rules of safety and general employee protective measures; common hazards in the workplace; how to prevent and respond to incidents; the purpose of safety programs such as Hazard Communication, Bloodborne Pathogen Safety, Lockout/Tagout, Confined Space, Emergency Response Plan, Personal Protective Equipment, and Hearing Conservation; as well as key workplace safety and security provisions.
